Fingal Update: Leprechaun Cup & more

The month of May means Primary Schools cricket season and there has been lots of activities taking place of late in the Fingal area.

Following the rolling out of many schoolyard coaching visits during February and March, schools have been participating in Cricket Leinster’s Leprechaun Cup, a hardball competition now played by up to 40 schools throughout Dublin and beyond.

The results of participating Fingal schools over the past fortnight are as follows:

Leprechaun Round 1:

Thursday May 2nd, 2019

Venue: Milverton, Skerries

Rush National School vs St Catherine’s Rush

St Catherine’s 47 all out, 16.4 overs (Aaron Donnelly 20, Robert Martin 6, Aishling Beggs 3-11, Conor Butterly 3-15, Thomás Armstrong 2-10)

Rush NS 44 all out, 14.2 overs (Kyle Rock 11, Max Ferguson 4, Thomás Armstrong 4, Aaron Donnelly 3-9, Hasan Shahid 3-15, Enoch 2-11)

St Catherine’s won by 3 runs

Tuesday 30th April, 2019

Venue: Castleknock College

Castleknock NS vs St Brigid’s

St Brigid’s 46 all out, 14.4 overs (Ben Moore 8, Carl Tully 5, Alex Murgatroyd 4, Daniel Sugrue 2-10, Ben Thompson 1-8, Adam Cooper 1-3)

Castleknock NS 47/2, 14.2 overs (Ben Thompson 9, Daniel Sugrue 7, Karl Tully 1-8)

Castleknock NS  won by 8 wickets

Thursday 9th May, 2019

Venue: Castleknock College

Castleknock NS vs St Patrick’s Diswellstown

St Patrick’s NS 46 all out, 19.4 overs (Conor Gillen 13, Adam Cooper 3-9, Ben Thompson 2-13)

Castleknock NS 47/9, 19.4 overs (Adam Cooper 6, Ben Thompson 5, Khuzaima Babur 6-14)

Castleknock NS won by 1 wicket

Friday 10th May, 2019

Venue: Balbriggan CC

Balbriggan ET vs Scoil Realt Na Mara, Skerries

Realt Na Mara 72-9, 20 overs (Sean Wilson 14, Ben Walsh 13, Doran Ayub 2-11, Jessie Makris 2-15)

Balbriggan ET 68-7, 20 overs (Muhammad Butt 12, Adel Rahim 7, Fionn McAfee 2-13, Chloe Ericson 2-15, Max Brophy 2-12)

Realt Na Mara won by 4 runs

Several  other Fingal schools have been participating in Cricket Leinster’s ‘Super League’ competition (Milverton NS, Balrothery NS & Oliver Plunkett’s) while plans are in place to hold a girl’s schools blitz at Malahide CC towards the end of May.
