  3. FACILE ‘W’ FOR THE ‘Y’ LEAVES RAILWAY STRICKEN (27.8.2023)
27th August 2023 by Cricket Leinster

FACILE ‘W’ FOR THE ‘Y’ LEAVES RAILWAY STRICKEN (27.8.2023)

IBI Corporate Finance Premier League

YMCA beat Railway Union by 8 wkts (YM 24 points, Railway 1 point)

At Claremont Road, 27 August

Railway Union 120 All Out off 41.2 overs (Philippe Le Roux 38, Liam McCarthy 24; Padraic Flanagan 3-23, Tom Anders 3-24, Mikey O’Reilly 2-24)

YMCA 121-2 off 21.3 overs (Jack Tector 58*, Henry Thompson 37)

With the exception of Philippe Le Roux who anchored the innings and a cameo from captain Liam McCarthy (24 off 17), the Railway batting line up misfired in the face of some tight & disciplined YM bowling. It was a seamer’s pitch with Mikey O’Reilly, Padraig Flanagan and Tom Anders sharing eight wickets.

Le Roux came in at 4 with the score on 27 and was last out for a gritty 38 off 87 balls with 4 boundaries.

In reply, YM lost captain Tim Tector early in the chase but older brother Jack then combined with Henry Thompson (37) to add 65 for the second wicket - effectively closing out the match as a contest.

Jack Tector finished unbeaten on 58* to see YM home before drinks.
