A Macdara Cosgrave century has sent Dublin University heading into their final game of the campaign on a high after they saw off North Leinster in a rain-affected tie in College Park.

Having won the toss, skipper Mikey O'Reilly elected to bat first and the Students immediately got into their stride, as Cosgrave dominated an opening stand of 89 with Olliver Mollins, before the Merrion man was dismissed for 27 from 68 deliveries.

O'Reilly came and went for 13, before Cosgrave again dominated a stand of 69 with Yash Bala, passing his century before losing yet another partner when the latter fell for 25. When Cosgrave fell for 114, the Students somewhat limped to 223/6 in the 47th over, before rain cut their innings short.

Robbie Foulkes got the visitors' chase off to a good start, however in spite of his 32, he was the fourth man out with the team score on just 42. Mikey O'Reilly claiming the first three wickets to fall, before Conall Woods claimed the big scalp of Foulkes.

Alex Brown shared stands of 38 with Yaseen Sherzad (18) and 58 with Brandon Kruger (20) before he was dismissed for a top-score of 56 by Cosgrave, who was continuing his excellent day with ball in hand, finishing with figures of 2/19 from his five overs.

A final effort from Mohammad Sherzad and Husnain Maroof saw them adding 41 runs for the 9th wicket, however with another rain shower disrupting the chase, an improbable final over saw 25 runs needed off 6 balls, ultimately far too many as the hosts won by 16 runs.
The final Dublin University fixture of the District Cup for 2026 takes place this Thursday, with the side facing off against South Leinster for their fourth and final T20 fixture.
The Students will be looking to finish the tournament with a flourish, and welcome both Rory Betley and Stephen Black back into the side following Wednesday's fixture against North Leinster.

They are led once again by Mikey O'Reilly who leads a bowling attack that once again features Ahijah Hill as his seam support, before turning to a host of spin options including Yash Bala's offies, the slow left-arms of Conall Woods and Donncha Tucker and leg-spinner Joe McCarthy.
The batting will see Betley joining Macdara Cosgrave at the top of the order, whilst Black will join Ryan Smith, Yash Bala and Tucker in the middle order, with O'Reilly and gloveman Ollie Mollins also very capable of contributing with the bat.
