  3. Club League Tables : Final Standings
9th October 2011 by Eddie Lewis

Club League Tables : Final Standings

Apologies that it has taken up until now to complete the tables of the club standings. For those with short memories the way it works is that each team is given points for its standing in the league [10.9. 7.6.5.4.2.1], this is adjusted to take account of the teams being in higher divisions and the aggregate is divided by the number of teams the club has.

In mid season [end June] in the adjusted table the top three places were held by Rush, Pembroke and Dundalk. Dundalk led the unadjusted club rankings, followed by Halverstown and Rush.

By the end of season in the unadjusted table the first two teams had retained their positions, but YMCA had risen to third. In the main table, however, it was all change with YMCA rising to the top, followed by Knockharley and Railway Union.

On this basis YMCA was the most successful club in Open League Competitions in 2011. The tables with the top ten clubs are set out below. Please don’t anyone take these too seriously.

For anyone interested the teams that made up most ground to win a league in the second half of the season were Merrion IIs in Division 4 who came up from 6th position and Railway Union 3rds who rose from 5th place in Division 5. On the other hand a number of teams held top position since the end of June – Laois 2nds [D6], Merrion 5ths [D7], Dundrum 2nds [D9], Civil Service 3rds [D10], Dundalk [D11], Clontarf 5ths [D12] and Pembroke 6ths [D13].
