CL YOUTH AGM (9.12.2024)

The CL Youth Annual General Meeting was completed earlier this evening.

The meeting was mainly facilitated by Meena Baskarasubramanian in her capacity as the 2024 Chair of CL Youth Cricket.

The Secretary's report (which had been circulated prior to the meeting) noted that a number of substantial changes were introduced this year by the CL Youth Committee including:

- Competition structures returned to Under Age groups.

- Introduction of Girls U13B league.

- Retirement changed to balls faced rather than runs achieved.

- Scorecards to be submitted for all U17 and U19 games.

- Results submitted weekly by one contact per club.

- U7 and U9 Leagues were non competitive.

- Coloured clothing and pink balls are mandatory for all age groups.

- Change in playing regulations for U11 Girls and U11C boys.

- Introduction of penalty points for Walkover results

There were also reports presented in respect of the Underage representative & pathway programmes (both boys & girls) for the 2024 season.

As outgoing Chair, Meena thanked all who had supported her in 2024 and in particular she praised the outgoing committee and the support provided by the CL office (via Shirley Doyle and Michael Cotter). The outgoing Committee included Robert Delaney (Mullingar), Nicola Rautenbach (Terenure), Rajesh Seshan (Adamstown), Jim Stewart (Greystones), Kamran Mirza (Knockharley), Aravind Ramanan (Swords) and Andy Hill (Pembroke).

It was confirmed that Stephen Tonge (Leinster) has been elected to serve as CL Youth Chair for 2025 in succession to Meena who is now the CL President for 2025. Meena was warmly thanked and acknowledged for her contribution as Chair over the past two years.

The meeting was advised that Shirley Doyle has kindly agreed to retain the Youth Committee secretarial post for 2025 with Nicola Rautenbach (Terenure), Jim Stewart (Greystones) and Andy Hill (Pembroke) also retaining their involvement as Committee members for the 2025 season, In addition, it was noted that Pavan Vadlamudi (Adamstown) will join the committee for 2025 having been nominated via the pre-meeting governance process.

Anyone interested in joining the Committee for 2025 is asked to contact Stephen Tonge as Chair (youth@cricketleinster.ie).
