  3. CL NATIONAL PROGRAMME COORDINATORS APPOINTED
4th April 2022 by Cricket Leinster

CL NATIONAL PROGRAMME COORDINATORS APPOINTED

Cricket Leinster is pleased to announce that Jenny Sparrow and Emma Butler have been appointed as CL National Programme Coordinators for the 2022 season and will commence their roles during May.

Jenny Sparrow

Jenny is a member of Leinster CC and also plays Super Series cricket. She regularly works with Cricket Leinster in a coaching capacity in support of our underage youth representative programme.

Emma is captain of Clontarf CC Women’s first team and is actively involved in coaching at club level in support of her clubs youth development programme.

Emma Butler

As CL National Programme Coordinators, both Jenny and Emma will be reporting to Isobel Joyce (CL Women’s & Girls Development Officer) and will be accountable for supporting clubs across the province in the implementation of the Smash-It and It’s Wicket programmes.

The Smash-It programme is intended for boys and girls (aged 5-9 years) and is about kids being active, making friends and having fun. It is delivered over 6 – 8 sessions and all participating clubs will receive full training, resources and programme logistics. All participating kids will receive a ‘Smash It’ t-shirt, backpack, bat and ball which will be distributed via your club.

The It's Wicket programme is intended for girls (aged 9-13 years) who want to be part of an inclusive club, have fun and feel empowered by playing sport. The programme introduces girls to cricket through skill-based activities and games. The programme is made up of 6 flexible sessions that clubs can run in a format that best suits with full training, resources and programme logistics provided. All participants will receive an It’s Wicket! t-shirt, backpack, bat and ball which will also be distributed via your club.

Both of these programmes are national initiatives which are being run in each area by the local Provincial Union - so here in the Cricket Leinster region, we have appointed Jenny & Emma to work with and support clubs throughout the summer in providing one or both of these programmes at your club ground.

To find out all the details about these programmes, how your club might get involved and how we will support you, please register for the Information Session on the link below:

The Club Information Session for CL clubs is scheduled for Thursday 14th April at 7.00pm (via zoom).

This session will be jointly presented by Cricket Ireland and Cricket Leinster personnel
