CL INDOOR CRICKET: WEEK 3 ROUNDUP

Week 3 of the competition saw the IPPA Falcons impose themselves against Adamstown and put up the biggest score to date.

A stunning batting performance saw them put on partnerships of 64, 29, 49 and 2 to set a total of 144.

In reply Adamstown simply had too much to do and regular wickets kept them restricted to 36.

Courtesty of IPPA, you can see hightlights of the match below:

The other matches was between the Chancers and the Spartans, and the Chancers got to bat first. This was a lower key affair, but turned into a nailbiter in the last over.

Batting first Chancers got off to their best start to date, the opening pair putting on 22 in their 3 overs. This was followed up by a partnership of 29 to bring them to 51.

Amazingly the next set of three overs saw honours completely even, the Chancers scored 15 but lost three wickets! Careful running in the last set got the Chancers up to a competitive 68 off 12 overs.

In reply the Spartans started slowly with only 6 off their first three overs, two wickets lost pinned them back.

The next set was very productive though and they finished on 40 with the 6th over going for 14 alone.

The third set saw them get the score up to 60 amd in touching distance of the Chancers total. It would all be down to the last pair.

The 8th over was a wicket maiden, so -5 runs for a total of 55. The 9th over saw two 2s, but also a wicket so they fell back one more run. They needed 15 off the last over.

The Chancers bowled brilliantly with the first four balls all dots, the Spartans couldn't get the ball away. The 5th ball went for 6, meaning that the Spartans would need an extra off the last ball. They could only get it away for two, leaving them on 62 runs, and the Chancers had won their first match.

Next week sees the Indigo Spartans vs IPPA Falcons and Adamstown vs Chancers.
