The club originated as Dunleckney CC and then it subsequently played as The Lodge Mills CC during the period where the total membership was composed of management and employees of the Brown & Crosthwaite Milling enterprise. The club's logo is a based on a grinding mill stone, while an old mill stone that currently leans on the front of the pavilion.
The club has been based in McGrath Park complex since July 1950. The club were fortunate to have moved to this area at the time. The town's benefactor for the ground is the McGrath Trust, which was set up by the local family who had founded the firm McGrath Bros., Tea Importers., where they also provided the town with the McGrath Park Memorial Hall, a local community centre that is still used today.
The club at the time were paying in Dunleckney Manor. The house & grounds where run by Dunleckney Ltd. In 1950, the club looked to negotiate a new lease with Dunleckney Ltd, but were refused as it was decided that the cricket ground would be required for farming purposes. The McGrath Foundation in the same year had offered a site in the park for the playing of cricket & hockey. It was decided by the club to move from Dunleckney Manor to McGrath Park. The move included the buying of the old pavilion for £60 and transporting the pavilion down the road to McGrath Park.
The current Des Foot pavilion was built in 1996, and Bagenalstown CC have been playing in the Cricket Leinster leagues since 1998. The club has won 7 Cricket Leinster league titles or cups throughout the men's teams since then.
