Rules

General

*Play is closed for this season - we're due to get underway again in Spring 2012! Meantime check out all the 2011 stats and prizes in League Tables!*

These are the finalised Game Rules - any further amendments will be purely in the interests of clarification of the existing rules. There is no limit to the number of teams individual Managers may enter (you are more than encouraged to enter teams into Division 1 and 2!). Any queries or disputes relating to the competition should be directed at the Chairman at fantasycricket@cricketleinster.ie. Decisions made by the Chairman on all such matters will be final.

Team Entry

Please refer to the Entry Form section.

Team Selection

Managers should firstly decide which Division they want to choose their team from, and then select a starting XI from the Player List. Final version start-of-season Player Lists are now available here

Updated Player Lists will be posted in the Player List page throughout the season to include new players (plus their values) and updated stats. "Drop-Out" players declared before 3 June have been removed from the Player Lists (for more on "Drop-Out" players see Player-Manager section of the Rules page).

The starting XI must conform to one of the following formations:

Formation 1

4 Batsmen
3 All-Rounders
1 Wicketkeeper
3 Bowlers

Formation 2

3 Batsmen
4 All-Rounders
1 Wicketkeeper
3 Bowlers

  • You must stay within your budget of €35m.
  • You can only select 3 players from the same club.
  • Player-Manager's must select themselves (see more on Player-Managers below).
  • You can only select one Overseas Professional (see more on Overseas Professionals below).
  • Fantasy Points will be awarded to every player regardless of their assigned Roles (e.g. a player categorised as a Batsman can get Bowling and Wicketkeeping points, an All-Rounder can get Batting, Bowling and Wicketkeeping points, a Wicketkeeper can get Batting and Bowling points, and a Bowler can get Batting and Wicketkeeping points!). Refer to the Points section below for further details.
  • The Player List clearly displays each player's Role, Value, Club and whether or not they are a Pro. So there's no excuse to get it wrong!
  • In the event a team fails to comply with these rules, corrections to the team will be made by the Chairman at his own discretion. There will be no facility available for a Manager to amend a team that's already been submitted. The Manager will need to make further subsequent transfers from the allocated 10 to change these selections.

Player-Managers

If you’re a “Player-Manager” (i.e. you are in the Player List yourself) you must select yourself!

Drop-Out's

As a Player-Manager, you have an option to "drop yourself out" of the Player List. You might want to do this if you don't expect to make an appearance in Division 1 or 2 in 2011 for whatever reason, whether due to selection issues, injury, international call-up's, match-fixing allegations etc. You can do this by submitting a Drop-Out Form. This option is only available until 17:30 on 3 June; no Drop-Out's will be accepted after this date. Complete this form by entering your name, email address and selecting yourself from the drop-down player list. Once submitted (and verified by your Club Contact) you will be permanently removed from the 2011 Player List, and added to the Drop-Out List. Once you've done this there's no reviews, call-back's or dodgy 2.5m rules - you're out keep walking pal!

Player-Managers who are also listed as "B" Players (see section on B Players below for more information) can drop themselves from either or both of their allocated teams. If they want to drop out from both, they need to submit TWO separate Drop-Out Forms.

e.g. S Tendulkar is a Player-Manager and B Player in the game, playing for both The Hills (S Tendulkar) and The Hills II (S Tendulkar B). He has the following options:

  1. Drop himself out of The Hills team by submitting a Drop-Out Form for S Tendulkar (he will continue earning points for The Hills II as "S Tendulkar B").
  2. Drop himself out of The Hills II team by submitting a Drop-Out Form for S Tendulkar B (he will continue earning points for The Hills as "S Tendulkar").
  3. Drop himself out of both The Hills and The Hills II teams by submitting TWO Drop-Out Forms, one for S Tendulkar and one for S Tendulkar B.
  4. Avoid all this messing around, be a good sport and leave himself in the game playing as a standard player and a B Player.

As a Player-Manager, if you submit your Drop-Out Form before 17:30 on 29 April, you will be entitled to a "free" replacement (i.e. it will not come out of your transfer allocation of 4 per transfer form submission/10 per season) by completing a Drop-In Form. This form will only become available once the games begin and Drop-Out's have been submitted. If you submit your Drop-Out Forms after 29 April and before 17:30 on 3 June, you will have to wait until Transfers open, and replace yourself in your team using the standard Transfer Form. This transfer will come out of your transfer allocation.

Other managers that have already selected a Drop-Out player in their teams will be able to identify them using the Drop-Out List. They will then be entitled to an immediate “free” replacement (i.e. they will not have to wait for Transfers to open) via the same Drop-In Form. Teams must obviously continue to conform to the usual Team Selection rules.

As with initial team entries, should a Drop-In change result in a team failing to comply with the normal Team Selection rules, corrections to the team will be made by the Chairman at his leisure.

Points will be earned by Drop-In players provided the Drop-In Form is submitted by 17:30 on the day before the next scheduled game.

Overseas Professionals

Managers can select only one Overseas Professional (“Pro”) in their team (marked with an asterix “*” after their names in the Player List). Every club in the game has one Pro. Because not all of the 2011 Pro’s had been finalised in time for the release of the initial Player List, the Pro’s listed are primarily those who played in the 2010 season. The names on the Player List will be updated when the 2011 Pro’s are confirmed. This update will not affect the player values (which will still be the same values as those based on the past Fantasy Cricket performances of the 2010 Pro’s). For example, N Parcell is the 2010 Pro for Club A, and is listed with value 8.5m. Club A announce a replacement for Parcell for 2011 – N Fusco. N Parcell will correspondingly be updated to N Fusco in the Player List, but his value will remain at 8.5m.

Should a manager select a 2010 Pro, who it then turns out is subsequently replaced by a new Pro for 2011, then this new 2011 Pro will automatically take the place of the former 2010 Pro in the manager’s team.

If a club does not retain or replace their 2010 Pro, they will then be removed from the Player List and added to the Drop-Out List. The Manager will need to make further subsequent transfers from the allocated 10 to change these selections.

Two clubs (North County and Phoenix) have been allocated “temporary placeholder” Pro’s in the 2011 Player List (as their Pro's were not confirmed in time for the release of the 2011 Player List). The names of these are given as "NCY. Professional" and "PHX. Professional" respectively, with values based on the average of the values for the eleven Pro’s that actually played in 2010 (calculated at 9.0m). Similar to above, when/if these clubs confirm their 2011 Pro’s, their names will be updated on the Player List, but their values will remain the same (9.0m).

If one of these two "temporary placeholder" Pro's is selected by a manager but subsequently the club doesn’t contract a Pro for 2011, managers will need to make a transfer from the allocated 10 to replace their Pro.

“B” Players

There are a number of “B” Players included in the Player List. These players come from the two 2nd’s teams in Division 2, namely The Hills II and North County II. Players that appeared for both the 1st and 2nd teams in 2010 are included in both the Division 1 and Division 2 Player Lists. To avoid any confusion they can be distinguished from each other by means of the “B” following the 2nd’s player’s name (e.g. AB de Villiers B). Obviously a player selected from the Division 1 Player List will only earn points from games they play on the clubs 1st’s team. Similarly a player selected from the Division 2 Player List will only earn points from games they play on the clubs 2nd’s team. They are treated as two completely separate players.

The Chairman's decision is final

If a team fails to comply with these rules, corrections will be made by the Chairman at his own discretion. These corrections can only be changed by the Manager by making further subsequent transfers from the allocated 10. Any questions, comments or threats can be addressed to the Chairman through fantasycricket@cricketleinster.ie
