Welcome to new season from OCC
As the new season kicks off in earnest the OCC wishes to remind clubs, administrators, captains and players of some things that will make the running of LCU competitions more smooth and easier for all.
In order to carry out all of the work behind the scenes the first basic requirement is that scorecards are submitted correctly and in full before midnight at the end of the Tuesday following the match. In truth it is far more efficient to submit them on the day of the match. (A full guide to how to submit a scorecard on Sportstatz is as
http://www.cricketleinster.ie/media/Guidance/175_guide-to-using-the-website-submitting-a-match-scorecard/175_guide-to-using-the-website-submitting-a-match-scorecard-77040531.pdf. An alternative is to send the Total Cricket Scorer match file to
results@cricketleinster.ie) To make this easier for the home side each captain in every league should get into the habit of exchanging team sheets before the toss including full names as they are registered on the LCU website. "Player unregistered" should not appear on a score card. Score cards not submitted in full by the deadline will be automatically penalised with a points deduction of 5 points (or other penalty that the OCC sees fit). In any season a captain is responsible for no more than eight league score cards. This is very little to ask over the season. If you have any queries please contact your clubs OCC representative immediately.
A similar policy will be enforced for umpires reports. This process has become even more straight forward with the adaptation of whoistheumpire software by the LCUSA. All of the details that were given before as reasons for non submission are already included in the form particularly, umpires names for those captains who are less used to having umpires appointed to their matches.
This brings us nicely on to scoring and the wish of all to promote scoring and the fantastic work done by our scorers. Please note the new regulations for a team not having a scorer in divisions 1-4. The reasons for the new regulations are clear and umpires have been asked to report all instances of non compliance. In truth every team in every league should have a scorer under the laws of the game. Also a reminder once again to check your version of DLS. See website for details.
Starring lists are due by 12pm on the Tuesday before the second Wednesday of each month. Each club has received details of these dates from the secretary of the OCC. The meeting to discuss starring takes place on the second Wednesday of each month. Please ensure compliance with this deadline so that starring lists can be published promptly. Offending clubs will be penalised.
OCC representatives will communicate weekly with club representatives with regard to changes required in starring lists due to non appearance of players. No player should play below their level and only players who are available regularly should appear on a starring list. Also to be aware that new players are not eligible to play for a club until they are approved by the OCC (this takes four days). Reps are in touch with clubs on a daily basis requesting information as new players register. During the season should a player wish to transfer from one club to another there will be a cooling off period of at least 10 days.
It is our intention to publish any penalties on the website as well as lists of outstanding match cards and umpires reports. "Player unregistered" usually refers to no photograph or an incorrect photograph. Can you please take the time to check that all is in order before your team plays for the first time. Club reps are requested to ensure that the LCUSA and
admin@cricketleinster.ie have the correct name and email address for each team captain.
On behalf of the OCC may I wish you all a most enjoyable and successful season. Should you have any queries please contact your OCC rep through your club rep. We look forward to keeping all information current, league tables up to date, cup results posted etc. With your help. I would ask all captains and players to read and know the regulations relating to the competitions they are playing in.
Yours in cricket
