With around 25% of the matches for the year completed, the 1st June provides the first benchmark for the Leinster Senior Averages [LSAs] for the season. The LSAs cover the two top leagues of the Open Competitions and the Leinster Senior Cup. They are part of an unbroken series that goes back to the start of the Senior League in 1919.
A full breakdown of the details on individual performances will be provided over the next three days. Today we cover the main batting and bowling averages.
There have been a lot of runs scored already this season. For this reason the minimum qualification has been set at 150 runs. Overseas players are included in the averages, though they do not qualify for the individual awards at the end of the season.
Not surprising given his 161* in his first league match, Freddie Klokker [The Hills] heads up the averages. He is one of five players - Eoghan Delany [Clontarf], Eddie Richardson [North County], Daniel Solway [Pembroke] and John Anderson [Merrion] who have averages of over 100.

Matt Petrie [who played for a number of years in Merrion] is a familiar name at the top of the blowing averages. Now playing for Trinity he is one of two players with an average of less than 10 runs per wicket. The other is team mate George Dockrell [DU & Leinster]. The qualification is 10 wickets.

It is worth noting the relative dominance of the bat in Division 1. Five out of the six bowlers who qualify for the averages are from D2, while 10 / 15 bats are from D1. It will be interesting to see if this is maintained through the season or is just a chance event arising from an exceptionally strong Trinity bowling attack.
