The Bowl-out Challenge Cup 2015
Hosted by Pembroke CC.
The 2014 cricket season is but a distant memory now. Attention turns to the ICC Cricket World Cup in Australia, where our Boys in Blue/Green will be battling with the likes of AB de Villiers, Kohli and Chris Gayle. By the time that tournament is over, our own season will not be too far away. Indoor cricket leagues and indoor winter nets will be in full flow and preparations for the 2015 season will be well underway.
As a curtain raiser to this new season, Pembroke CC are hosting a new event, “The Bowl-Out Challenge”. This event will take place on Saturday 18th April, 2015 at Sydney Parade (home of Pembroke CC) and will involve teams of five (from a squad of 6) competing in the shortest possible form of the game, the bowl-out. A knock-out competition between a maximum of 32 teams and including a plate competition for those teams knocked out in the first round, thus guaranteeing at least 2 games to every team.
Entry is €25 per team and can be paid on the day. Entries will be taken on a first come, first served basis to those who return a completed entry form (see below).
The Bowl-out Challenge Cup 2015

The format of the competition shall be an open knock-out draw, limited to 32 teams.
Each entered team shall be 5 persons. The cost of each team shall be €25.

(ii) First round losers will enter the “Plate” competition.
(iii) If teams are level after each designated member has bowled, a sudden death play off shall take place, with the same bowlers from each side alternating in the original order until a winner has emerged.
(iv) A No ball or wide ball shall count as a ball bowled but a No-ball or a wide shall in no circumstances be regarded as having put down the wicket.
(v) The umpires shall approve the balls, supplied by the teams which will be used.
(vi) No player shall be permitted to stand in front or behind the wicket or tend the stumps in any way in order to act as a target for the bowlers. (However a player will be permitted to stand back from the stumps to field the ball).
