Antalis to support Leinster schools programme
Europe's leading distributor of paper, packaging solutions and visual communications sign three year sponsorship deal to support the ever-growing Leinster Schools Cricket Programme
As the 2014 schools cricket season gets underway Cricket Leinster have received a timely boost with the announcement of a three-year sponsorship deal with Antalis Ltd. The agreement will support the running of the Union’s three main competitions for Primary schools – The Leprechaun Cup, The Super league and the Leprechaun Cup ‘Cailini’. Antalis’ involvement will lead to more coaches visiting new Primary schools encouraging them to start cricket programmes within their schools and offer further support to schools participating in these three events.
Marketing Manager at Antalis Maura Hoey commented at the announcement at St Gerard’s school in Bray, “Antalis is delighted to be involved with Cricket Leinster and Irish Cricket in general, to help support their efforts to further develop cricket and encourage team sport in our schools. It is wonderful to see an increase in the number of Primary schools participating and we would like to wish all players well in their forthcoming matches"
To launch the event, Ireland Women’s international Elena Tice was present. Elena, at 16 years old is the second youngest member of the Ireland Women’s Squad that recently returned from Bangladesh for their ICC World Twenty20 event. She has already made over thirty appearances for her country. The Merrion All-Rounder began her cricket in the Leprechaun Cup and sees the vital link in the Leinster Youth Competitions in getting kids involved in cricket, “If it wasn’t for the Leprechaun Cup I would never have even started playing cricket and never received the superb opportunities I’ve been afforded by representing my country.”
Cricket Ireland Development Manager for Leinster, Brían O’Rourke was clearly delighted with the new deal that will make big inroads into the Union’s grass roots development efforts. “At this stage it looks as if there will be close to 70 schools participating in cricket events in the coming weeks and this reflects very well on the work of our development staff and schools coaches along with the assistance of the local councils. Now with Antalis on board we can take the schools programme to the next level offering hardball cricket to far more boys and girls during the April, May and June periods.”
