In a short break from our series on Cup Finals, over the next two weeks we will look at the first League matches played by each of the teams in this initial Leinster Senior League. This week we will cover the matches played on the first weekend. One of the two matches was between Leinster and UCD in Rathmines - this is reported on today.
The sides in the first league in 1919 were Leinster, UCD, RHMS, Civil Service, Dublin University, Pembroke, Phoenix, and Railway Union. Interestingly under the regulations players were allowed to play for more than one club.
